Description of the project

The Rentel Offshore Wind Farm is situated between the Lodewijkbank and the Thorntonbank in the Belgian part of the North Sea. The Rentel wind farm consists of 42 Siemens 7 MW Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) and 1 Offshore High Voltage Substation (OHVS). The total installed capacity will be 309 MW.

The wind turbines are supported by monopile foundations consisting of a transition piece and a monopile that is driven into the subsoil. The monopiles and transition pieces are connected by means of a conical grouted connection. The structures are located at a water depth ranging between 24 and 34 m.

The monopiles weigh up to 1,250 MT and have a diameter of 8,000mm at the bottom. The cables are pulled in via cable entry holes located just above seabed. Scour protection is required in order to prevent a scour hole to develop.
